Washington softball upended on road
Demons drop nonconference game at Marion

MARION — Washington’s offense was able to capitalize on the Marion pitching staff on Wednesday night. Despite getting outhit just 8-5 on the day, the Demon softball team took a seven-run loss.
The Wolves downed the Demons 8-1 in a nonconference action. It was Washington’s second loss in a row after winning three-straight.
After a Marion run in the first, Washington tied the game at 1-1 with one of their own in the top of the second, but Marion scored the next seven.

The Wolves put up one more in the second, three in the third, two in the fifth and another in the sixth.
RyLee Fishback went 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead the Demons. Haley Mitchell, Leighton Salazar and Ella Greiner all went 1-for-3.
Bella Salazar and Halle Cuddeback split time in the pitcher’s circle. Salazar gave up five runs (three earned), while striking out three batters. Cuddeback gave up three runs (one earned).
Washington fell to 10-17 with the loss.
