Demons double up on Chiefs in run ruling fashion

WASHINGTON — Washington softball had a tough end to the week last week with a pair of losses to Centerville and Fairfield.
After some rest over the weekend, the Demons looked to be rejuvenated on Monday with a pair of dominating Southeast Conference victories over the Chiefs of Keokuk.
The Demons defeated the Chiefs 15-0 in game one and 14-4 in the second.
In game one, the Demons made quick work of the Chiefs as the bats were scorching hot through two innings.
Washington rattled off 10 hits in the opening two frames as Ella Greiner, Colbie Greiner and Kendall Hinrichsen all notched a pair of hits.
Before anyone could blink and the Demons held a 9-0 lead after one and with six more in the second, 15-0.
Isabella Salazar made quick work of the side in the top half of the third to end the game in just two and half innings.
Colbie Greiner and Kendall Hinrichsen led the Demons with three RBIs a piece. Ella Greiner finished with two in the open game.
Leighton Salazar, Haley Mitchell and Emery Walton all had RBIs as well.
In the circle, Isabella Salazar gave up just one hit with one strikeout.
In the final game of the night, the bats stayed warm for Washington.
Keokuk opened up the scoring with a run in the top of the first frame, but as quick as they took the lead they lost it as Washington brought three across home plate in the bottom of the inning.
The Chiefs tied it at 3-3 with a pair of runs in the second, but from then on out it was all Demons.
Washington scored in every inning on the night.
The Demons plated three in the second, two in the third, four in the fourth and two in the fifth seal the win.
Leighton Salazar had three hits with two RBIs for the Demons.
Ella Greiner, Haley Mitchell, Isabella Salazar and Kendall Hinrichsen all finished with two hits.
Mitchell tallied two RBIs too.
Colbie Greiner, Alyvia Anderson, Isabella Salazar and Emery Walton all had an RBI as well.
In the circle, Colbie Greiner and Halle Cuddeback gave up a combined four runs (three earned) on eight hits and five strikeouts.
With the pair of victories, Washington improves to 16-10 on the season.
