Demons pick up eight head-to-head victories against Trojans

WASHINGTON — Washington wrestling grabbed its first Southeast Conference win of the season on Thursday night in a dual against Fairfield.

The Demons were winners 42-28 over the Trojans. Washington notched eight wins over the Trojans, six of which were falls.

Blaine Rees (190), Joseph Schreiber (106), Nate Edmonds (120), Caden Greiner (126), Aaron Boone (132) and Chase Greiner (165) all won by fall for Washington.

The other two Demon victories came from Lane Schrock at 150 and Jude Carter at 138.

Both were some of the best matches of he night as Schrock slipped by Fairfield’s Zandrik Allison by decision, 8-6. The pair were back and forth through all three rounds.

Meanwhile, Carter edged the Trojan’s Julian Pumphrey after three full rounds of action by decision, 5-1.

Fairfield finished the night with five dual wins.

Dain Burkhart (175), Logan Johnson (285) and Aiden Westercamp (144) were winners by fall. Dre Smithburg picked up a win by major decision, 10-2 and Cael McCabe grabbed six points after a forfeit at 113.
