Washington volleyball to face No. 4 Assumption
Demons 3A Region 8 run starts with the Knights

DAVENPORT — A tough test awaits the Washington volleyball team as the Demons kick off their Class 3A Region 8 postseason run against Davenport Assumption.
The Demons (17-17) have been playing some great volleyball as of late, just last week placing second in the Southeast Conference tournament.
Most recently, Washington picked up a 3-1 victory over Columbus., defeating the Wildcats 28-30, 25-14, 25-12, 25-19 on senior night.
On the contrary, Assumption (24-7) comes in on a three game slide.
The Knights were topped by No. 5 (4A) North Scott, No. 5 (5A) Pleasant Valley and No. 4 (5A) Cedar Falls.
Leading the Demons in kills is Leighton Messinger with 337 total. Ella Greiner has 184 kills followed by Taylor Miksch with 106.
Lauren Hinrichsen and Remy Messinger both have over 300 assists. Hinrichsen has 333 and Messinger 306.
In the digs department, Greiner has a team-high of 264 and Leighton Messinger has 241.
Leighton Messinger enters with 42 aces and Greiner has totaled 36.
For Assumption, Maggie Johnson has 214 kills followed by Ellah Derrer with 204.
Ellie Schubert enters with 688 assists and 39 aces.
Johnson also has a team-high 168 digs. Nora Remrey has 148.
Washington and Assumption will face off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Davenport.
The winner will take on either Fairfield or Davis County.
