Washington, WACO, Fort Madison dual in triangular

WASHINGTON — Washington wrestling played host to a triangular on Thursday night as the Demons welcomed both WACO and Fort Madison.

It was a pretty good night for the Demons as they finished the dual with a win over WACO, 66-12, and a very narrow loss to Fort Madison, 40-35.

Meanwhile, WACO suffered a pair of defeats. Along with the loss to Washington, the Warriors were topped by Fort Madison, 59-15, meaning the Bloodhounds left Washington with a pair of victories.

Washington and Fort Madison kicked the evening off. The Demons grabbed seven wins in the head-to-head.

Aaron Boone got Washington on the board with a forfeit victory at 132. Lane Schrock downed Fort Madison’ Rainer Johnson at 150 by decision 6-0. Joseph Schreiber put together a dominant performance at 106, topping Fort Madison’s Cole Quittem by tech fall, 17-0. Nate Edmonds was a winner at 113 by a narrow decision, 9-7, over the Bloodhounds Brody Bolander.

The other two Washington wins came from Caden Greiner at 126 and Blaine Rees at 175. Both won by fall.

In the dual against WACO, Washington won eight matches by fall and three other by forfeit.

The Warriors did win a pair, with Louden Huisenga notching a fall victory over the Demon’s Braylon Hamilton at 190 and Gage Samo picking up the win at 113 with a pin against Nate Edmonds.

Against Fort Madison, WACO finished with a trio of wins. Huisenga defeated the Bloodhounds Isaac Thacher as time expired by decision, 6-4.

Samo pinned Luke Vanderpool in 3:06 and John McLaughlin was a winner at 126 after pinning the Bloodhound’s Noah Swigart.
