RIVERSIDE — The Washington boys soccer team grabbed its second victory of the season on Thursday afternoon after a dominating performance against Highland.
Despite being on the road, the Demons had no trouble with the Huskies on their way to a 10-0 victory in 63 minutes of action.
It took Washington just one minute to find the net in the contest, as Isaac Gentry slipped the ball in off an assist from Lane Schrock.
Fifteen minutes later, Gentry put a second one away this time off a pass from Brayan Arreola.
The Demons third goal came 24 minutes in, with Emanuel Raymundo notching one for himself.
From that point on until the 37 mark, Washington scored five goals all separated by four minutes or less.
Arreola scored at 26 minutes off a Raymundo pass, Schrock found the net at 29 minutes off a dish from Kelver Lopez, Arreola struck again at the 33rd minute mark off an assist from Joshua Perez, followed by goals once again from Arreola and Schrock at 34 and 37 minutes to make it 8-0.
Highland never had an answer.
The Demons were able to end the game early off goals from Brian Fritz at 51 minutes, assisted by Perez and a 63rd minute goal by Perez, assisted by Fritz.
Will Gilchrist Brock held down the fort in goal for the Demons.
Washington head coach Sally Hart said she was proud of how the team performed together.
“It was great to see our team spread around the scoring and watch some of our guys get their first career goals,” Hart said. “I'm happy with how we've played this week and look forward to starting conference play next week.”
