The Washington boys basketball team scored 41 points in the first half of a blowout win over Tipton on Monday. The Demons secured their eighth win of the season with a 66-43 road victory.
Tipton made things interesting in the third quarter, outscoring Washington 18-8, but it wasn’t enough as the Demons re-found their footing in the final period. Washington scored 17 points in the fourth to put the game away, and punctuate its fifth road win of the season.
Washington’s defense also provided an assist in the victory. The Demons forced 23 Tipton turnovers and held the Tigers to just 33.3% from the field and 7 of 26 from 3-point range. Tipton was also limited in getting to the free throw line, where it went just 4 of 8.
Six Washington players found the bottom of the net in the first quarter, setting the tone for the game. In total, seven players connected on a field goal with four finishing in double figures.
Nic Stone led the way with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. Rajan Roth made just one 3 late in the fourth quarter, but attacked the rim relentlessly and finished with 14 points.
Drew Conrad and Kael Williams each finished with 12 points; much of that output coming in the first half. Williams scored four of his points at the line in the third quarter.
As a team, the Demons made just one field goal in the third, a layup by Aidan Schmitz. The senior finished the game with four points. Tate Greiner finished with five points, while junior Ashton Manz connected on a 3 in the fourth quarter.
