Washington wins Indian Relays
Mid-Prarie finishes 2nd, Winfield-Mount Union 5th

WAPELLO — Washington and Mid-Prairie were neck-and-neck at the Indian Relays in Wapello on Tuesday, and when the dust settled, it was the Demons who walked off the track as champions.
Washington score 149 points on the day, eight points better than second-place Mid-Prairie’s 141. Winfield-Mount Union finished seventh place with 50.
The Demons had eight wins on the day. Lance Sobaski won two of those, taking the 400-meter dash in 53.07 seconds and the 1600-meter run in 4:31.60.
The Demons went one-two in the 110-meter hurdles. Austin Rebling crossed the line in 17.01 seconds, and Ethan Zieglowsky took second, in 17.47 seconds.
Quin Wubbena gave the Demons a win in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 59 seconds. The Demons also took the sprint medley, in 1:41.29, and the shuttle hurdle relay, in 1:09.44.
Washington also won two field events. Kasen Bailey topped the group in the high jump, leaping 6 feet even. Brayden Hartman threw the shot put 52 feet, 2 inches.
Mid-Prairie took six events on the day. Four of those were relays.
The Golden Hawks won the 4X100, crossing in 45.47 seconds. They took the 4X200 in 1:34.44, the 4X400 in 3:44.78, and the 4X800 in 9:02.58.
Mid-Prairie won two individual events. Thaddeus Shetler took the 800, finishing in 2:08.23, and Jackson Gehmen won the long jump with a leap of 19-05.75.
