WASHINGTON — One goal was all it took Monday night for the Washington boys soccer team to grab a win, 1-0, over Hillcrest Academy in the final regular season game.
For over 57 minutes, neither team had found the net.
It wasn’t until the 58th minute that the scoring woes were broken, with the Demon’s Brayan Arreola slipping it into the back of the net off an assist from Erick Ortez Jr. for the eventual game winner.
Washington held it together on the defensive side of the ball as well. Will Gilchrist-Brock picked up five saves to go along with a shutout victory.
For the Ravens, Aiden Krabill was busy in goal. The senior kept his team right in it, tallying a total of 15 saves.
The Demons move to 11-4 and will start their playoff journey on Thursday against Keokuk (2-12) in Fort Madison.
Hillcrest Academy is now 6-8 on the season and they will take on Mid-Prairie (10-2) on Thursday as well.
