Washington wrestling team takes first in Al Garrison Duals
The Washington wrestling team traveled to Waukee to take part in the Al Garrison Duals Saturday, Dec. 17. The Demons returned home with another first-place finish, taking their season record to 15-0.
The team faced Waukee, Des Moines North-Hoover and Ankeny before challenging Waukee and Johnston in the Championship round.

The Washington wrestling team traveled to Waukee to take part in the Al Garrison Duals Saturday, Dec. 17. The Demons returned home with another first-place finish, taking their season record to 15-0.
The team faced Waukee, Des Moines North-Hoover and Ankeny before challenging Waukee and Johnston in the Championship round.
The team won over Waukee 76-3. The action started with the 132 weight class where Kyle Anderson won by forfeit. Andrew Waite (138) was the first to take to the mats as he pinned Jack Smith in 1:00.
Austin Hazelett won by fall in 1:58 over Parker Carey. Trey Van Weelden (152) won by fall in 3:28. Tristin Westphal-Edwards (160) won by an 11-3 major decision over Noah Miller.
Logan Escher (170) won by fall in 5:16 over Sam Miller. Collin Murphy (182) pinned Cael Thorson in 3:52. Karlton Skubal (195) won over Gabe Gammell by fall in 0:46.
Tanner Murphy (220) won by forfeit. Mitchell Huisenga (285) won by fall in 0:28 over Connor Arndt.
Matt Collett (106) lost by a 7-2 decision to Aiden Tallant. Walker Ikerd (113) pinned Colby Laub in 3:15.
Garrett Ikerd (120) won over Bradley Thompson in 1:03 and Alex Latcham (126) won by fall in 0:56 over Max Nielsen.
The team next faced Des Moines North-Hoover where they won 71-3.
Hazelett won over Devin King by fall in 1:39. Van Weelden pinned Son Thang in 1:23. Westphal-Edwards won by forfeit. Escher lost by fall in 1:17 to Musa Allison.
Murphy won by fall in 1:28 over Dalton Davis. Skubal, Murphy and Huisenga each won by forfeit. Collett won by fall in 0:47 over Ashton Feldman.
Walker Ikerd won by forfeit. Garrett Ikerd lost by a 7-2 decision to Meshach Zarwie. Latham won by a 17-0 technical fall over Hams Pyne, Anderson won over Shadrach Zarwie by fall in 4:59 and Waite won by forfeit.
The Demons won over Ankeny 50-16. Facing off first was Collett who lost by fall in 0:31 to Derek Anderson. Walker Ikerd won by an 8-7 decision over Sam Kallem.
Garrett Ikerd lost by a 2-1 decision to Spencer Anderson. Latcham won by a 15-0 technical fall over Wyatt Carl.
Anderson won by fall in 3:00 over Nick Menegay. Waite won over Hunter Ragan by fall in 1:12. Hazelett won by a 16-1 technical fall in 3:27 over Tom Reichenbacker.
Van Weelden lost by a 17-4 major decision to Killyan Green. Westphal-Edwards pinned Tyler Vry in 0:26.
Losing 3-1 in the sudden victory was Escher to Preston Luksetich. Murphy won by an 11-1 major decision over Anderson Martin.
Skubal pinned Cole Rathien in 1:13. Murphy won by a 3-0 decision over Tate Beardsley and Huisenga won by fall in 1:41 over Taylor Bain.
In the championship rounds, the team faced Waukee and won 37-24. Van Weelden won by fall in 2:53 over Anthony Zach.
Westphal-Edwards won by a 5-1 decision over Grant Hemphill. Escher lost by a 9-5 decision to Damien Wallace. Murphy lost by a 7-3 decision to Brandon Tessau.
Skubal pinned Jacob Martin in 0:47. Murphy won over Kyler Medhurst by a 2-0 decision. Huisenga lost by a 4-2 decision to Nathan McDonald.
Collett lost by fall in 1:39 to Nick Miller. Walker Ikerd won by a 7-5 decision over Cody Anderson. Garrett Ikerd lost by fall in 3:21 to Kyle Biscoglia.
Latcham won by fall in 0:52 over Samuel Bloch. Anderson won by fall in 2:35 over Blake Miller.
Waite won by a 9-0 major decision over Mason Seifried and Hazelett lost by a 9-2 decision over Brock Parker.
The team won over Johnston 35-30 to get the first-place victory for the day. Westphal-Edwards won over Collin Hushagen by a 3-2 decision. Escher lost by fall in 2:40 to Riley Romick.
Murphy lost by a 5-1 decision to Emin Okic. Skubal won by fall in 1:55 over Bobby Piagentini. Murphy won by fall in 3:26 over Ben Standish.
Huisenga lost 2-1 in a tiebreaker to Jake Ryan. Collett lost by fall in 0:59 to Thomas Edwards.
Walker Ikerd won by a 5-0 decision over James Edwards. Garrett Ikerd won by a 16-1 technical fall over Jack Hutchison.
Latcham lost by fall in 5:39 to Zach Price. Anderson won by a 5-0 decision over Cade Moss.
Waite won by fall in 5:18 over Sterling Brunk. Hazelett lost by fall in 3:32 to Nick Graham and Van Weelden won by an 8-5 decision over Elliot Pohlmeyer.
The boys will face off at home Tuesday, Dec. 20, against Alburnett, Iowa City Regina and Wapello. The meet begins at 6 p.m.
