Washington XC sweeps in Fort Madison
Mt. Pleasant boys take fourth, girls sixth

FORT MADISON — Washington cross-country put together yet another stellar performance on Thursday as both the boys and girls squads picked up a victory at Fort Madison’s Timm Lamb Cross Country Invitational.
Mt. Pleasant also competed in the meet. The Panther boys finished fourth, while the girls took sixth.
The Demon girls scored 39 points for the top spot, followed by Fort Madison with 43, Muscatine 69, Keokuk 82, Burlington 157 and Mt. Pleasant 166.
On the boys’ side, Washington dominated with 28 points. Fort Madison tallied 63, Muscatine 68, Mt. Pleasant 79, Burlington 79 and Keokuk 185.
For Washington Micah Rees and Tyler Alderton went one and two in the meet.
Rees crossed the tape in 15:48.3 for the top time, followed by Alderton in 16:54.9.
Lane Schrock finished fifth in 17:18.1. Andrew Rees took sixth after clocking 17.22.3.
Kael Malichky placed 14th, Sawyer Tschantz ended in 20th and Andrew Shepherd finished 22nd as the top seven for the Demons.
Ben Carthey was the top runner for Mt. Pleasant. Carthey clocked a time of 16:58.0 for third.
Jude Dykstra placed ninth in 17:31.8. Locken Henderson ran 17:59.5 for 12th. Coleman Mowery placed 26th, Garrett Landau finished 29th, Gavin Drake took 34th and Drake Landau ended in 37th.
The Demon girls were led by second overall Iris Dahl. Dahl ran 20:01.6 for the runner-up finish.
Lauren Horak placed sixth in a time of 21:12.1. Quincy Griffis ended in eighth after clocking a 21:20.2.
Alyvia Anderson finished 11th, Abigail Kleese crossed in 12th, followed by Angeline Anderson in 13th and Emma Horak in 14th.
The Panther girls were led by Nelle Peterson in 27th. Peterson ran 24:01.3.
Monroe James finished 28th in 24:07.3, Jayden Yoder placed 34th with a time of 24:54.5, Tatum Kane ended in 38th after running 27:40.0 and Hailey Parrott 39th in 31:41.7.
Both squads will be back at it on Tuesday as Mt. Pleasant will host its Mt. Pleasant Invitational.
