Washington?s Bruns finishes sixth at state pentathlon

Washington eighth-grader Noah Bruns took sixth place in the Junior Boys? division at Tuesday?s Iowa Association of Track Coaches Pentathlon Championships, which were held at Case Field.

Bruns scored 2,123 points after finishing sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.18 seconds), sixth in the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches), eighth in the long jump (15 feet, 5 inches), ninth in the 400-meter dash (1:00.30) and 13

in the shot put (29 feet, 8 inches).

Bruns was one of five Demon middle schoolers who competed in the state pentathlon. Seventh-grader Jaivonn Willis finished 12

in the Junior Boys? division with 1,884 points. He cleared 5 feet, 1 inch to tie for fourth place in the high jump, and he finished ninth in the long jump (15 feet, 4 inches), 13
