Washington?s Sammy Ellingson tied for fourth place in the high jump as she competed for Team Iowa in Saturday?s Senior All-Star Spotlight Meet at St. Francis University in Joliet, Ill.
Ellingson, who cleared 5 feet, 4 inches to take third place in Class 3A at the state track meet last month, cleared 5 feet, 2 inches to tie for fourth place while competing against the best seniors from Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin at Saturday?s meet.
Ellingson, the daughter of Shawn and Stephanie Ellingson, also took ninth place in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.34 seconds, and she was a member of Iowa?s shuttle hurdle C team that took fourth place. The quartet of Abigail Paca (West Hancock), Ellingson, Kamille Kroneman (Dubuque Senior) and Allie Osterberger (West Hancock) crossed the finish line in 1:09.00.
Mid-Prairie?s Kattie Redlinger also competed at the meet, taking seventh place in the 100-meter dash in 13.44 seconds.
Redlinger was a member of Iowa?s 4x100 B team that took second place. The quartet of Sammie Osterberger (Dubuque Senior), Jessica Feldman (Harlan), Redlinger and Tessa Helmle (Western Dubuque) clocked a time of 50.53 seconds. Redlinger was also a member of Iowa?s 4x200 B team, which finished third. The quartet of Taylor Jacobson (Cedar Rapids Jefferson), Whitney Wolf (Durant), Taylor Glover (Spencer) and Redlinger crossed the finish line in 1:47.36.
