WASHINGTON — Washington High School head Track and Field coach Steve Roth is already a decorated coach throughout the state.
Roth is in position to earn some additional hardware as he’s in the running for the 2023 National High School Track and Field Coach of the Year awarded by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.
The 2023 National High School Athletic Coaches Association National Coaches Convention will be hosted by the Nebraska Coaches Association in Lincoln, Nebraska from July 24 to July 27 of this year.
There also will be a NHSACA National Coaches Hall of Fame Ceremony and a NHSACA National Coach of the Year Ceremony to recognize the best of the best.
Back in 2022, Roth was given the distinction of an At-Large Coach of the Year by Iowarunjumpthrow.com for helping lead the Demons to a fourth-place finish in 3A at the Iowa High School Track and Field Championships.
The Demons had one individual state title winner, a trio of second-place finishes and a handful of top five placers as well.
The 2023 season is sure to be another eventful one for Roth and the Demons.
