FAIRFIELD - Tristin Westphal-Edwards claimed Washington High School's only championship Saturday at the Southern Iowa Classic wrestling tournament.
Westphal-Edwards won the 182-pound title to keep his record unblemished at 35-0.
The Demons also got two second-place finishes. Logan Escher (26-4) lost the title match by a 4-2 decision at 195 pounds to Class 3A's No. 6-ranked Sam Hayes of Ft. Madison. Tristan Allender (15-13) lost the title at 220 to Mt. Pleasant's Zach Beason, ranked fifth in Class 3A.
Westphal-Edwards breezed into the finals with two first-round pins. In the title match, he faced Lucas Roland of PCM and the winner wasn't decided in regulation. Roland is ranked third while Westphal-Edwards is ranked first. It was a fitting end for such highly ranked grapplers. Westphal-Edwards scored a SV-1 victory, 6-4.
Other Washington wrestlers who placed in the top four: Walker Ikerd (33-3) was fourth at 120; Dillan Sanders (27-4) finished in fourth at 145; Ayden Frazier (21-19) placed fourth at 152.
Postseason begins next Saturday with sectionals at Fairfield.
