Water Sharks take 11 to regional meet
The Washington Community Y Water Sharks swimming team took 11 swimmers to the Midwest Regional Swim Meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis this past weekend, and the Water Sharks finished in the top 25 in 18 races.

The Washington Community Y Water Sharks swimming team took 11 swimmers to the Midwest Regional Swim Meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis this past weekend, and the Water Sharks finished in the top 25 in 18 races.
Megan Buitendorp finished in the top 25 in four different individual races in the girls? 15-18 age group. She was the Water Sharks? only top-10 finisher, taking ninth in the 200 back in 12:24.85. She also finished 13

in the 100 back in 1:06.78, 21

in the 100 butterfly in 1:11.47, and 23

in the 200 free in 2:13.64. Buitendorp scored 13 points and finished 29

out of 45 swimmers in the 15-18 division.
Buitendorp was also a member of three relays that finished in the top 25. The 18-and-under 400 free relay team of Megan Adam, Lyndsay Adrian, Buitendorp and Emily Adam took 15
th
place in 4:20.67. The 200 free relay team of Emily Adam, Meredith Lumberg, Buitendorp and Adrian finished 19
th
in 1:56.80, and the 200 medley relay team of Buitendorp, Emily Adam, Adrian and Lumberg was 20
th
in 2:13.85.
Emily Adam finished in the top 25 in a pair of individual races in the girls? 15-18 age group. She came in 17
th
in the 200 breaststroke in 2:53.27, and she was 21
st
in the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.47.
Haylee Wilson and Kayla Andrew finished 24
th
and 25

, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke in the girls? 11-12 age group. Wilson touched the wall in 1:22.71, and Andrew recorded a time of 1:22.82.
Wilson and Andrew were also members of four relays that finished in the top 25 at regionals. The 14-and-under 200 free relay team of Andrew, Wilson, Allison Vogel and Megan Adam took 15
th
place in 2:02.64, and the 14-and-under 200 medley relay team of Megan Adam, Wilson, Andrew and Vogel also finished 15
th
in 2:17.56. The 12-and-under 200 free relay team of Wilson, Lupita Delarosa, Andrew and Vogel finished 23
rd
in 2:06.91, and the same four swimmers came in 24

in the 12-and-under 200 medley relay.
For the Water Shark boys, Reece Mayer finished in the top 25 in a pair of events in the 9-10 age group. He took 12

place in the 50 butterfly in 37.51 seconds, and he was 21

in the 50 free in 32.19 seconds. Noah Bruns took 14

place in the 13-14 100 breaststroke in 1:13.86. Mayer scored five points, and Bruns tallied three.
