Fairfield High senior standout Tristin Waugh was selected to play in the 47th annual Iowa Shrine Bowl July 20 at the UNI Dome.
'It was a great honor to represent Fairfield, my coaches and my town,” said the recent Trojan graduate that is headed to Iowa Central Community College to continue his football career.
'We got there on Sunday night and right away we started practicing,” Waugh said. 'There was a ton of people with 48 people on the north and the south teams, we didn't have air-conditioning in our dorms, which wasn't fun, but I made some life-long friendships as the week went on.”
Waugh added that he preferred the Shriner's game over the other all-star game he was selected to, the River Battle Bowl, because the South team won and, 'This was just a lot better and a lot more fun,” according to Waugh.
With his Trojan playing career behind him, what does Waugh want his legacy at FHS to be?
'I just tried to be the best I could be. A leader and a guy who always wants to go out there, work hard and try to lead by example.”
