For baseball classes 1A and 2A, the postseason has begun. On Saturday night, a handful of teams began the journey, others were not so lucky as weather pushed their games back to Monday.
Just four teams were able to get their games in with the locations being New London and Moravia.
Wins came from New London and Pekin on Saturday night. New London defended its home turf with a 4-1 win over Wapello. Pekin defeated fellow Union squad Van Buren County 12-1 at Moravia.
The Tigers will now square off with Burlington Notre Dame on Tuesday night. The Nikes beat Keota 11-1 in round one.
Meanwhile, Pekin will take on Moravia, who defeated Danville 3-1.
In the top half of the 1A substate five bracket, Highland and Hillcrest Academy both had their games canceled.
The Huskies are set to take on English Valleys on Monday and Hillcrest Academy gets HLV. Both games will take place at Highland High School.
Winfield-Mt. Union was the only other team to have its game canceled. The Wolves were set to play Wilton at the Beavers home field. That game will be played Monday as well.
Teams with byes include Cardinal and Mid-Prairie. Cardinal will square off with Davis County on Tuesday, while the Golden Hawks await the winner of Gran View Christian and Pella Christian.
