FAIRFIELD - It was another tough loss for the Fairfield Trojans Friday night against a very good Solon football team.
'We continued to see the same positive developments - kids never quit, they reduced the number of mental mistakes and they played physical football,” Fairfield coach Nate Weaton said. 'These seniors, despite our won-loss record, have really laid a solid foundation for the future of our program. They defined the intangibles that we will need as we look ahead to the classes below them.”
Carter Ferrel, Elan Ledger, Leone Gichure, Landon Kooiker, Drew Martin, Jacob Scotton, Hannah Lyons, Dylan Durbin, Konnor Burkhart, Gabe ZimmerGage Hook, Tyler Nordstro and Nic Schillerstrom were the senior players on the roster for Fairfield this season.
'Their attitudes never wavered, they always showed-up to practice ready to go, and I believe they all learned how important it is to work harder in the offseason than in-season,” Weaton said. 'Preparation for next year starts now. We are encouraging all of our players to compete by being a multisport athlete.”
Weaton wants his future players to get heavily involved in the strength and conditioning program, to participate in speed work in the spring and summer, and to get it done in the classroom.
'We hate to see this Senior Class go, but we are excited about what the future holds for our program,” Weaton said.
