Week three volleyball rankings

Another week gone and another list of volleyball rankings released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Throughout the five classes there’s been some bouncing around, but in other cases the lists look pretty similar.

Just six squads exit the rankings this week and one of those squads is the Union’s own Mid-Prairie.

The Golden Hawks ended last week nicely with victories over West Liberty, 3-1, on Thursday then finished the week in the Iowa City West Tournament.

Mid-Prairie downed a plethora of larger opponents in Ankeny, 2-1, Regina Catholic, 2-1, Cedar Rapids Prairie, 2-0 and Iowa City West, 2-0.

The Golden Hawks lone loss in the tournament came against Class 5A No. 1 Dowling Catholic, 2-1. It was a tight battle which ended, 18-25, 25-23, 12-15.

Through all classes, all No. 1 are the same, with Ankeny Christian leading 1A, Dike-New Hartford 2A, Western Christian 3A, Clear Creek-Amana 4A and Dowling Catholic 5A.

Dropping out of the rankings are Hudson in 2A, Red Oak and Mid-Prairie in 3A, Nevada and Charles City in 4A and Cedar Rapids Kennedy in 5A.
