Weekend baseball roundup: VBC alone in 1st, Rowan throws no-no.

The weekend’s small school baseball slate was highlighted by a huge win for the Van Buren County Warriors on Thursday and a no-hitter in Lone Tree on Friday.
Van Buren County 6, Notre Dame 4
The Warriors moved into first place alone in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division with a two-run win at Notre Dame. The Warriors scored two runs in the seventh to break a 4-4 tie.
Jackson Manning was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored. Taylor Sprouse went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, and Lucas Fett scored three runs.
Sprouse started the game and threw 5.2 innings, giving up just four earned runs, while striking out six batters. Manning came in and threw 1.1 shutout innings, striking out three batters in the process.
West Burlington 10, New London 9
The Tigers fell in a tough one on Thursday, giving up three runs in the seventh and only tallying two themselves to come up one-run short.
Brendan Richey was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in the loss. Memphis Watson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Cale Westerbeck had two hits.
Hillcrest Academy 10, Lone Tree 0
The Ravens continued to blow through SEISC North competition with a five-inning win at Lone Tree. Starting pitcher Rowan Miller no-hit the Lions in a five-inning, 11-strikeout performance.
Luke Schrock had two RBIs to lead Hillcrest Academy. Phoenix Anderson was 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI.
Hillcrest Academy 16, Lone Tree 0
The Ravens took it to the Lions in Game 2. One game after Miller’s no-hitter, Seth Ours threw a one-hitter, striking out six batters over a four-inning shutout.
Ours had a monster day at the plate as well, gonig 3-for-3 with two home runs and six RBIs. Grant Bender finished 2-for-3 with a triple and five RBIs, and Rempel was 2-for-4 with four RBIs.
Winfield-Mount Union/Columbus 10, Pekin 9
The Wolves notched yet another one-run victory in SEISC North play, storming back from an 8-5 deficit to beat Pekin.
Grant Watson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead WMU/Columbus. Cael Phillips earned the win on the mound, giving up six runs (four earned) over five innings, while striking out six.
Highland 9, Louisa-Muscatine 1
The Huskies dominated L & in a North Division clash.
William Dunbar had a big game, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Peyton Yeggy was 1-for-5 with two RBIs. Ethan Simpson and Ryker Miller each had multi-hit games, and Miller drove in one run.
Ethan Paisley stayed hot on the mound, striking out 11 Falcons in a dominant five-inning performance. He gave up no runs in his five frames.
Cedar Falls 11, No. one (2A) Mid-Prairie 1
The Golden Hawks had a rough weekend at the North Scott tournament. That started with a 10-run loss against a Class 4A foe. Alex Bean went 1-for-2 with an RBI in the loss.
Notre Dame 9, No. one (2A) Mid-Prairie 4
The Golden Hawks couldn’t take out the Nikes at North Scott. Brock Harland was 1-for-2 with two RBIs in the loss.
Centerville 13, Cardinal 3
The Comets were done in by a red-hot Centerville offense, which ended the game in five innings.
Gavin Ware had two RBIs in the loss. Tatem Telfer knocked in one run.
Keota 5, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 1
The Eagles dumped the Rockets by four runs, thanks in part to a 3-for-4 performance from Chase Sieren, who ended the night with one RBI. Aiadan Anderson was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Anderson also pitched all seven innings, giving up just one run, while striking out eight Rockets.
Keota 2, HLV 1
In one of the wildest games of the season, Keota won a game without ever recording a hit. Ashgon Galindo and Cole Kindred each scored runs in the game, and both Billie Kindred and Aiden McGuire had an RBI.
The Eagles worked seven walks in the win offensively, but never had a base hit in 19 at-bats.
Billie Kindred pitched a gem, throwing six innings and giving up just one unearned run on five hits. Aiden McGuire pitched a shutout seventh to earn the save.
