Cardinal, Fairfield and Washington compete at North Mahaska Invitational
Three Union area teams in Cardinal, Fairfield and Washington were all in action on Saturday in the North Mahaska Invitational.
Cardinal topped all 10 schools with 130 points and a team title. Fairfield finished fifth with 80 points and Washington followed in eighth with 46.5 points.
The Comets finished with three first place finishers on the day. Paislee Kern (120), Macy Grove (140) and Reagan Vaughn (155) were all top finishers. Kendall Birk (115) and Bryleigh Sparks (125) each placed second.
Fairfield ended with a pair of first place finishers as well. Kendra Allison (235) and Alyia Abbott (110) all finished first. Haley Ulin (140) and Samantha Lyons (170) both placed second.
For Washington, Peggy Miller (145) placed second. The Demon’s Ryha Wellington (135) was the next highest placer, finishing third.
Mid-Prairie leads area with second place finish at Highland Tournament
Highland hosted its annual girls tournament on Friday featuring a total of 21 schools.
The Union area was represented by seven of those teams in Mid-Prairie, Pekin, Van Buren County, Mt. Pleasant, Columbus, Highland and WACO.
Mid-Prairie led the way with a second overall finish, posting 160.5 points. Pekin placed ninth with 79 points, Van Buren County 11th with 46 points, Mt. Pleasant 13th with 40 points, Columbus 17th with 21 points, Highland 20th with 13.5 points and WACO 21st with 12 points.
For Mid-Prairie, Ellie Callahan (170), Mardie Berry (145), Emmerson Moore (135), Ashlee Farrier (130) and Austyn Sexton (110) all placed second.
Pekin had a winner in Lexa Nelson at 105. The Panthers also ended with a second overall finishers in Hailey Pedrick.
Van Buren County was led by Eleanor Shin who placed fourth at 130. Rylee Caviness followed in fifth at 125.
Olivia Gordy paced Mt. Pleasant with a fourth overall finished at 235. Quintrie Lee (110) and Paris Phosy (115) both ended fifth.
Columbus/WMU’s Brynn Pgmore was the only placer on the day, finishing fifth.
The host Huskies had one placer and just one wrestler. Maiya Singbeil placed fifth at 135.
WACO also had just one placer in Elyssa Graber. Graber finished sixth at 105.
Sigourney-Keota finishes eighth at Trojan Tangle
Sigourney-Keota was in action on Saturday in the Trojan Tangle hosted by West Marshall.
The Cobras finished eighth in the tournament, posting 71 points.
Reanah Utterback was the Cobras lone champion through the tournament at 115.
Sadie Clarahan finished second at 125 and Kia Montgomery third at 130.
