Highland downs Pekin
The Highland softball team got its weekend started on a good note, downing Pekin in three innings.
The Huskies scored five runs in the first innings, followed by a seven-run second to take the game 12-0.
The Huskies recorded eight hits in the victory, with Cheyann Adamson leading the charge with two doubles and two RBIs.

Highland downs Pekin
The Highland softball team got its weekend started on a good note, downing Pekin in three innings.
The Huskies scored five runs in the first innings, followed by a seven-run second to take the game 12-0.
The Huskies recorded eight hits in the victory, with Cheyann Adamson leading the charge with two doubles and two RBIs.
Kelsey Hora, Morgan Craig, Katie Chalupa and Brooke Kreiss each had two RBIs in the contest.
Hora, Craig, Chalupa and Courtnee Hahn each scored two runs in the game.
The Huskies are now 9-2 on the season and 7-1 in conference play. Highland will travel to take on Mediapolis on Tuesday evening.
IMS falls to Wapello
The IMS softball team hung tough with Wapello on Friday afternoon, but ultimately fell to the Arrows in five innings.
The Arrows scored seven runs in the seventh inning to end the contest, 13-1.
IMS had two hits in the contest, coming from Suzanna Yoder and Jenna Boller, while Yoder scored the lone run of the game.
IMS also drew three walks in the contest.
Iowa Mennonite will take on Louisa-Muscatine on Tuesday afternoon.
Columbus dropped by L-M
Despite seven hits in the contest, it wasn?t enough for Columbus to get past conference foe Louisa-Muscatine.
L-M scored in six of the seven frames, taking a 9-5 victory over the Wildcats.
Claire Hamilton and Anna Hamilton each had two hits in the contest, with Hamilton driving in a run as well.
The Wildcats are 5-4 after the loss, and 5-3 in conference action.
Columbus will take on Pekin in a doubleheader on Tuesday night.
Keota drops doubleheader
The Keota softball team dropped a doubleheader against North Mahaska on Friday afternoon, falling 11-1 in the first game, and 17-10 in a high-scoring finale.
In the first game, which ended in five innings, the Eagles managed three hits with two coming from Abby Schulte, both doubles.
North Mahaska threatened to end the second game early, scoring 11 runs in the first three innings, but Keota bounced back.
The Eagles scored seven runs in the third and fourth innings to make it 14-7, and eventually closed it to 14-10, before North Mahaska scored three runs to cap off the game in the seventh.
Addison Sprouse and Cortney Hyman each had two of the Eagles? nine hits in the contest, which saw Sprouse, Schulte and Mallory Woltering score twice each.
Sprouse added a home run to her stat sheet, as she had a three-RBI night.
Keota stands at 1-9 on the season, and will have a doubleheader with Sigourney on Wednesday.
