After a dominant stretch in the Continental Athletic Conference, including three blowout wins in the tournament, it’s no surprise that the Iowa Wesleyan women’s basketball team wasn’t done collecting hardware at the tourney’s end.
The CAC announced its 2021-22 All-Conference teams this week, and as expected, Iowa Wesleyan dominates list for women’s basketball.
After a complete turnaround in Tiger women’s basketball, Steve Williamson was given the conference’s Coach of the Year award. Williamson took a program that went 2-13 last season and flipped it to 19-5 this year. That mark included a 11-0 recorded in the CAC.
The Tigers, of course, breezed through the conference tournament, defeating Fisher College 81-53, Washington Adventist University 76-58, and Haskell Indian Nations University 84-59, this all while just having seven players on the roster.
Kyla Moore received two awards, a first in the history of the CAC. Moore earned Player of the Year honors and Co-Defensive Player of the year honors. She was also selected to the All-CAC First Team.
Moore led Iowa Wesleyan with 17.8 points per game this year, and scored 20.1 points per game against CAC opponents. She was red-hot from behind the arc, hitting 50 3-pointers on the year and shooting 41.55% to do so.
Fresh off her CAC Tournament Player of the Year award, Brittany West was named Newcomer of the Year and also given a First-Team spot. Teammate Breanna Wendland joined to make it three Tigers taking five spots.
