MT. PLEASANT ——The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced this week's honorees for SLIAC Player of the Week.
Allison Morris, an Iowa Wesleyan junior from Antioch, Ill., was named track athlete of the week. Morris is the first Tiger on the track and field team to earn this honor this season.
Morris ran a 44 minutes, 20.62 second time in her 10,000-meter debut for the Tigers at the William Penn Invitational, taking second in the race. Morris' time ranks first in the SLIAC this year and second all-time in program history.
Morris qualified for the Drake Relays in the 3000-meter steeplechase. In her first time running the event, Morris not only took fourth with her time of 13:55.60 at the Grand View Invitational, her time ranks fourth all-time in Wesleyan history.
She is the first Tiger to qualify for the Drake Relays since 2014 (Nigel Talton), first female since 2010 (relay team), first individual since Floyd Turner in 2007, and the first individual female since 2001 when Stacy Ticknor set the school record in the heptathlon.
