Wester, Vandenberg a part of Missouri Western history
Mt. Pleasant graduates Leonard Wester (class of 2011) and Blake Vandenberg (class of 2012), are now a part of Missouri Western State University football history, as their team has qualified for the regional final for the first time ever.
The Griffons, ranked No. 9 in the NCAA Division II, defeated sixth-ranked Henderson State University, 45-21, on Saturday to advance to the regional final.

Mt. Pleasant graduates Leonard Wester (class of 2011) and Blake Vandenberg (class of 2012), are now a part of Missouri Western State University football history, as their team has qualified for the regional final for the first time ever.
The Griffons, ranked No. 9 in the NCAA Division II, defeated sixth-ranked Henderson State University, 45-21, on Saturday to advance to the regional final.
The upset comes on the heels of Missouri Western?s thrilling 57-55, triple-overtime win over Minnesota-Duluth in the first round of the playoffs on Nov. 17.
The Griffons are now 12-1 on the season and will play at Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday, Dec. 1, in the final.
Wester, a redshirt freshman and offensive lineman for the Griffons, has played in 10 games this season. Vandenberg decided to redshirt his first season on the team.
