Weston replaces Jill Blake, who led the Tiger program the past two years. He takes over his first-ever collegiate coaching job after serving as head coach at Clinton Community College in Clinton the past two years.
?We are pleased to have Scott on board as the coach of the Tiger volleyball program,? Hampton said. ?His experience coaching community colleges in eastern Iowa and familiarity with the area will be an asset for us in building in the future.?
Weston coached at Clinton CC for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Last year in his second season with the Cougars he improved the team from two wins in 2010 to a 22-16 overall record, including a tie for sixth in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference. He also served as an assistant coach with the volleyball program at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington in 2009.
Weston is a graduate of Missouri Western University in St. Joseph, Mo., where he majored in Physical Education with a minor in coaching. He has served as a reading and mathematics instructor in the Burlington School District and also was an assistant baseball coach at West Burlington High School.
Along with Weston, Lexy Determan has been named assistant coach to Weston and the IWC volleyball program. Determan will add to her current duties at IWC as assistant softball coach and administrative assistant for the athletic department.
