The Washington Golf and Country Club held its annual championship tournament, with a sudden victory playoff needed to decide a champion.

The Washington Golf and Country Club held its annual championship tournament, with a sudden victory playoff needed to decide a champion.
Mike Peiffer and Rusty Tschantz finished the championship round tied at 113 strokes apiece, forcing a playoff.
The first playoff hole saw the two competitors make a par, before Peiffer sank a par put on the second hole for the championship win.
Tschantz finished in second place, while Jake Quinn took third and Ben Williams took fourth place.
In the flights, Steve Donnolly won the first flight with an 84, followed by Joel Witthoft?s 85 and Jim Buitendorp?s 86.
The second flight was led by Matt Brown?s 93, with Bruce Smith and Chuck Doughty each shooting 94s.
In the super seniors division, Doug Dunlap shot a 75 to lead the way, while Francis Johnston carded an 87 and Jim Lloyd notched an 88 for third place.
In the handicap flight, Peiffer and Robert Latcham tied with a 73 while Matt Meyers finished in third place with a 74.
The Washington Golf and Country Club will have a Mulligan Tournament on Labor Day, Sept. 5, and more details can be found at the clubhouse.
