WHS golfers lose by a stroke
The Washington boys and girls golf teams opened their respective seasons Thursday.
The boys scores were not made available.
The girls played at Keokuk and were edged by a single stroke 190-191 by Mt. Pleasant. Keokuk scored 249 and Burlington a 254. Notre Dame and Fairfield did not have enough for a team score.
Washington's Kiki Guo was the meet medalist, firing the low score of 42.
Demon teammate Josie Tanner tied Anni Liechty of Mt. Pleasant for runner-up honors as both carded a 42.
Other Demon scores were Emily Waite with a 51 and Carly Burlingame with a 58. Emma Nichols shot a 59. Madison Fishback posted a 63.
