FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield soccer teams were unable to defend home field advantage over the weekend. The Trojan boys fell 4-0 to Fort Madison on Thursday, and the girls dropped a 5-3 game to Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union on Friday.
Fairfield couldn’t get many shots off against the Bloodhoudns in the boys’ game. The Trojans only had two shots on goal, both of which were saved by Fort Madison’s Keelynd Ross.
Fort Madison’s lead was just 1-0 at halftime, but the Bloodhounds put up three more in the second.
Fairfield’s Binh Truong had one of the team’s shots on goal, while Cormac Van Pelt had the other.
It was a wild one between the Wildcat and Trojan girls on Friday night, as Fairfield failed to complete a four-goal comeback.
Columbus/WMU held a 4-0 lead at the break, but the Trojans outscored the Wildcats 3-1 in the second half to make it interesting.
Iris Garza had two goals for Columbus/WMU. Dahlia Valdez, Frannie Sosa and Janelle Jimenez each scored one.
For Fairfield, it was Emma Metcalf who scored all three times, netting a second-half hat-trick.
Fairfield soccer is now 3-4-2 on the boys’ side and 3-7 on the girls’ side.
