Wildcats claw past Panthers

COLUMBUS JUNCTION — Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union and Mt. Pleasant were nearly even in a wrestling dual held at Columbus High School on Thursday, but the Wildcats’ bonus points proved to be the deciding factor.

In fourteen varsity matches, the Wildcats and Panthers split seven to seven, but Columbus/WMU earned the full six points in all but one matchup.

Columbus/WMU earned pins from Bowen Thomson at 132, Angel Ineichen at 138, Kason Dopler at 190, Fritz Figaro and Justin Knipfer at 106.

Mt. Pleasant had four pins in the loss. Landon Yocum had a pin fall at 157. Ramzy Davis pinned his man at 165. Juan Lopez got a pin at 285, and Levi Evans picked up at pin at 120.
