Wildcats top Central Lee on Homecoming
Columbus picked up its second win of the season on Friday night, defeating Central Lee 38-30 on Homecoming.

Columbus picked up its second win of the season on Friday night, defeating Central Lee 38-30 on Homecoming.
Brothers Maurico and Mark Ramirez combined to rush for 304 yards to lead the Wildcats (2-5, 2-3 Class 2A District 5) to victory. Maurico, a freshman, ran for 189 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries, and Mark, a junior, added 115 yards on 21 attempts. Senior Esteban Gutierrez chipped in 58 yards on 15 carries, and sophomore quarterback Ethan Leyden ran for a 1-yard touchdown.
Leyden also threw for a pair of scores. He threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to junior Ricky Rivers and tossed a 9-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Chase Finke.
Finke and fellow sophomore Austin Edwards intercepted passes for the Wildcats, and junior Javi Diaz recovered a fumble. Junior Zack Gaddy led the Columbus defense with 10 tackles.
