DES MOINES - Grand View University got a late Christmas present Sunday night when Trashaun Willis announced on Twitter he will continue his academic and athletic career at the school in Des Moines.
'I chose Grandview because the coaching staff welcomed me in the day of my visit,” Willis said. 'I met with almost all the coaches and really got to build relationships with some of them one on one.”
In 2013, the Vikings won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Football National Championship.
'Grandview has a great winning culture that I can't wait to be a part of,” Willis said. 'When I was on my visit they really made me feel at home. The deciding factor was probably the winning mentality of the coaches and how much they care about their athletes.”
Grand View University is a private liberal arts university in Des Moines that enrolls approximately 2,000 students. It is a NAIA Division I program.
'We are thrilled to be getting a player with the character and talent of Trashaun,” Grand View head coach Joe Woodley said. 'We feel he is one of the best all-around athletes in the state of Iowa.”
