WINFIELD — Winfield-Mount Union welcomed Central City’s football team for a scrimmage Friday.
“The scrimmage was OK for us,” WMU head coach Scott McCarty said. “We are going to learn from it quite a bit.”
The Wolves found areas to improve on both sides of the ball.
“Offensively, we found out where our strengths and weaknesses are,” McCarty said. “Defensively we need to improve our physicality.”
WMU saw University of Iowa recruit Cam Buffington produce some big runs on offense. Carter Loyd had a couple of scoring receptions and PAT catches. Noah Sparrow tossed a touchdown pass and a PAT.
“We need to improve in all areas as we gear up for the season opener on Friday,” McCarty said.
WMU, went 4-4 last season. The Wolves play host to Moravia Friday. The Mohawks were 1-7 last season.
