Winfield-Mount Union golf sweeps Lone Tree

WINFIELD — The Winfield-Mount Union golf teams made early waves at Twin Lakes Golf Course on Monday. The Wolves picked up two wins over Southeast Iowa Super Conference rival Lone Tree.

The WMU boys pounded the Lions 190-256. The girls shot a 255 but were unopposed on the final scoreboard as Lone Tree didn’t bring enough golfers to score.

On the boys’ side, Nick Crow led the way with a 43. Carter Loyd shot a 46, and Andrew Brown finished out at 48 to give the Wolves three golfers under 50.

Isaac Schurr was the fourth WMU scorer, at 53. Jake Edwards shot a 54, and Griffin Humphreys finished at 56.

The Lady Wolves were led by Ava Hagge’s 56. She was the only WMU girl under 60 on the day.

Isabel Kann shot a 64. Alli Humphreys ended at 67. Afton Wilkerson and Chloe Fisher each shot 68, and Lily Freeman finished with a 74.
