Winfield-Mt. Union, Keota golf tie for sixth at state

AMES — The Class 1A 2024 Iowa High School Athletic Association State Golf Championships at Ames Golf and Country Club came to an abrupt end after the first day of action on Monday.
Weather ended Winfield-Mt. Union and Keota’s hope at a state title as day two of action was canceled.
The two Union area squads were neck and neck through the 18 holes played.
Winfield-Mt. Union and Keota ended the state meet tied for sixth in the standings, each finishing with a 334.
Leading the way individually, was Winfield-Mt. Union’s Carter Loyd. The Wolves’ senior had the highest round on the day, finishing 15th shooting a 79.
Cody Milks followed with a top 20 finish, placing 20th with a 81. Justin Knipfer ended with an 86. Konner Kinneberg shot an 88. Grant Anderson and Max Edwards each carded a 95 and 96 respectively.
As for Keota, Billie Kindred had the highest round, shooting an 82 for 25th. Cole Kindred shot an 83, Brennan McGuire had an 84, Sawyer Stout finished with an 85, Tanner Waterhouse an 88 and Conner Strand carded a 93.
