WINFIELD - The Lone Tree boys went into Winfield on Tuesday night looking for their first win of the season, but Winfield-Mt. Union made sure the Lions wouldn't be getting it. WMU used a hot start to win 57-45.
The Wolves scored a game-high 17 points in the first quarter to take a three-possession lead, and Lone Tree could never even it back up. The Wolves led 17-9 after one quarter, 28-18 at halftime, and 42-27 after three.
The freshman duo of Abram Edwards and Cam Buffington both came through with double doubles. Edwards had 19 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Cam Buffington finished the night with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Jacob Kongable and Brady Loyd each hit a couple of 3-pointers to score six points apiece. Bryce Wade had five points and 10 rebounds. Konner Wade scored five points, and Andrew Brown finished with two.
WMU is now 7-6 overall and 5-5 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division. The Wolves host Highland on Thursday night.
