Winfield-Mt. Union moves up

After yet another week of Iowa High School girls basketball action, the Wolves of Winfield-Mt. Union finds themselves climbing once again in the rankings.

In the ninth installment of this season’s Iowa Girls High School Basketball Rankings, complied by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, the Wolves have made the jump to No. 9 in Class 1A.

WMU was previously ranked No. 10 in the class.

Winfield-Mt. Union currently sits at 18-0 and holds a 15-0 record in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division.

In Class 1A, WMU is one of five teams remaining that are undefeated. The other include, No. 8 West Fork, No. 7 Central Elkader, No. 5 Westwood and No. 3 North Linn.

The No. 1 team in the class is currently Algona Bishop Garrigan.

The Wolves picked up win number 18 last week with a dominating victory over Columbus, 62-27. They will look to make it 19-0 against Highland on Tuesday night, which marks the final regular season game before the SEISC North and South shootout.
