Winfield-Mt. Union outlasted by No. 2 Mediapolis

WINFIELD - Winfield-Mt. Union didn't make it easy on Class 2A's No. 2 team on Tuesday night, but the Bullettes were still able to grind out a sweep. Mediapolis defeated W-MU 27-25, 25-21, 25-13, clinching the SEISC North Division in the process.

The Wolves spread the ball around in the loss. Emma Haines led the team with five kills. Melina Oepping finished with four kills. Madie Anderson had three. Kayla Edwards had two, and Anna Hudson, Keely Malone, Carlee Sloan and Kyndal Townsley finished with one each.

Edwards finished the night with 10 assists to lead the team. Hudson's three blocks paced the defense at the net.

Wilkerson ended the night with 22 digs. Kyndal finished with 15 and Keetyn Townsley had 14.

The Wolves fell to 18-12 on the year and 6-2 in the North Division. They'll host Notre Dame in the first round of the Class 1A regional tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
