Winn takes the mound
Pekin grad shines in first MLB appearance
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — It didn’t take long for former Pekin standout Keaton Winn to get his first real taste of Major League Baseball action.
One game after getting called up from AAA Sacramento, 2016 Pekin graduate got the call to action in the San Francisco Giants’ 11-3 win over the hosting Cardinals on Tuesday night.
Winn pitched four innings in relief after starting the sixth inning on the mound. He threw four full innings, giving up just one earned run on one hit and three walks. He struck out two batters.
Winn earned a four-inning save for the Giants.
San Francisco ended its series with St. Louis on Wednesday. The Giants will stay on the road to go play the rival Dodgers for a weekend series.
