WMS softball wrap-up
The Washington middle school softball team wrapped up its season recently with a 3-1 stretch to end the year.

The Washington middle school softball team wrapped up its season recently with a 3-1 stretch to end the year.
In a doubleheader with Fort Madison, the Demons cruised to a pair of victories, defeating the Bloodhounds 14-0 and 14-2.
In Game 1, three shutout innings from Allison Rebling were all the Demons would need, as the Demons cruised to the 14-0 win.
Rebling added three hits with two runs scored, while Hannah Anderson added a hit and two runs scored.
Kaitlyn Mitchell added three runs for the Demons, Macy Driscoll had a double and two runs, while Alexa Mitchell scored two runs with a double in the game.
In the second game, a 14-2 victory, Alexa Mitchell tossed two innings of scoreless softball, and the victory was completed in the circle by Driscoll, who struck out four.
Driscoll went 3-for-4 offensively in the game, while Rebling and Anderson each went 2-for-2.
Alexa Mitchell went 2-for-3 while Leah Evans, Kiley Garrelts and Halle Leyden each added a hit.
When the Demons took on Central Lee in the final doubleheader of the seaosn, they left with a split, winning 5-4, but falling by the same score in the second game.
In the win, the Demons posted a five-run start in the first two innings to claim the victory.
Rebling pitched six innings in the game, allowing five hits and walking four and striking out five.
Leyden went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles while Driscoll, Garrelts and Alexa Mitchell each recorded a hit.
Alexa Mitchell tossed the second game, striking out seven and giving up six hits in the five innings.
Anderson went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Kaitlyn Mitchell, Alexa Mitchell and Rebling each scored the other runs.
The WMS softball team ended the year with a 10-6 record in its first season, and Rebling finished with a season record of 6-1.
Alexa Mitchel was 4-4 in the circle, while Macy Driscoll went 0-1.
