The Washington Middle School volleyball teams took the court against Fairfield on Thursday night.
The eighth-grade team traveled to face the Trojans for its games, with the A team falling to Fairfield in three games. The A team won the first set 21010, but fell in the next two, 21-16, 15-7, to lose the match.
The eighth-grade B team won the first game of the night 21-11, but fell in the second game 21-16. The C team split its games with a 21-14 loss, before winning in the second game 21-17.
The eighth-grade D team fell in its pair of games with a set of 21-5, 21-10 losses.
The seventh-grade Demons opened up their home schedule against the Trojans, with three teams seeing action.
The A Team needed three sets, but pulled off the victory after falling in the first set, 21-14. They rebounded with a 21-17 victory in set 2, and a 17-15 victory in set three to take the match.
The A team was led by Anna Nacos, who accounted for 14 points, while Taylor Brinning added 10 and Cara Linnenkamp notched seven.
The Washington B team won its only set of the night with a 15-10 victory, while the C team swept its three games with victories of 21-14, 21-6 and
21-16.
The C team was led by Destinee Macias? 23 points, while Ginette Valguez had six points for the Demons.
The Washington seventh-grade teams will host Ottumwa on Monday, while the eighth-grade team will travel to face Ottumwa.
