WMU drops New London, Pekin rolls again
Union area small school football sees Wolves, Panthers show out

Winfield-Mount Union, Pekin, Columbus and Sigourney-Keota sall scored wins on the football field this Friday.
Winfield-Mount Union 68, New London 32
Winfield-Mount Union’s Jake Edwrds ran for 107 yards and four touchdowns, while throwing for 109 yards and two scores in a dominant Wolves victory.
Lane Genkinger found the end zone twice for WMU, both times on the ground. Max Edwards caught four passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns, and Tayson Samuels caught a touchdown pass.
New London’s Gavin Menke-Bailey ran for 68 yards and a score. Cale Westerbeck and Brigham Porter each scored on the ground, and Menke-Bailey found both London Franklin and Westerbeck for touchdown passes.

WACO’s defense couldn’t contain talented Iowa Valley sophomore Nolna Kriegel, who combined for nearly 450 all purpose yards and six scores as the Tigers knocked off the Wrariors.
WACO’s Clayton Miller threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns in the loss, two of which went to Gage Samo. Samo had 81 yards on four catches, and Louden Huisenga led the defense with 11 tackles.
Pekin 54, Van Buren County 0
The Pekin football team put together another blowout performance, thanks in part to 326 passing yards and three touchdowns by Will Adam.
Adam found Robert Brown for six completions, which went 204 yards. Brown scored once through the air, as did Henry Adam and Alijah Brock.
Nolan Glick carried the ball for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Henry Adam scored two touchdowns on the ground as well, and the defense had four interceptions, two by Henry Adam.
Columbus 51, Wapello 14
Riley Kaalberg went off for 217 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Tyson Kaalberg found the end zone twice, and Trevor Phillips hit Riley Kaalberg with a touchdown pass as Columbus rolled past Wapello.
Danville 14, Highland 7
The Huskies scored just one time against the Danville defense, finding the end zone on a Sage Harley-Norman run in the first quarter.
Highland ran for over 200 yards as a team but couldn’t put anymore points on the board.
Central Lee 47, Cardinal 0
Cardinal’s offense was shut down by the visiting Central Lee Hawks, who held the Comets to only eight yards of total offense.
Sigourney-Keota 23, Mediapolis 7
The Cobra run game was back in a big way, as SK went for 330 yards and two scores against Mediapolis.
Isaac Bruns had a fantastic day, rumbling for 182 yards and two touchdowns. John Berg had a fumble recovery for a touchdown on defense, taking one back 20 yards to the house.
No. 10 (1A) Iowa City Regina 28, Mid-Prairie 17
The Golden Hawks trailed just 14-11 after three quarters against rival Regina, but the Regals scored twice in the fourth to put it away.
Brady Weber threw for 200 yards and a touchdown in the loss, and also found the end zone with his feet. Kale Miller knocked in a 39-yard field goal.
