WMU golf sweeps Louisa-Muscatine
Loyd, Kann lead Wolves to win over SEISC North foe

WINFIELD — Twin Lakes Golf Club played host to the first Winfield-Mount Union wrestling meet of the year on Monday as the Wolves scored a pair of wins over Southeast Iowa Super Conference rival Louisa-Muscatine.
The WMU boys bumped L&M 181-214. The girls rolled 224-264.
On the boys’ side, it was Carter Loyd that led the way. He won medalist honors for the Wolves by shooting a 41, which beat out L&M’s Xander Bieri by two strokes.
Andrew Brown shot a 44 on the day. Jake Edwards finished at 47, and Nick Sparrow scored a 49 to round out the team’s four scorers.
Konner Kinneberg put up a 54 for the WMU boys. Max Edwards finished at 56.
The WMU girls were paced by Isabel Kann’s 50. She was the runner-up medalist, as L&M’s Madi Bieri led the field with a 45.
Lily Freeman and Alli Humphries both shot a 55. Anna Anderson finished at 64. Kaelyn Townsley ended the day at 66, and Afton Wilkerson shot 69.
The Wolves also won the junior varsity boys match 238-276, behind a 54 from Sinjin Brown and a 55 from Grant Anderson.
