The Southeast Iowa Super Conference released its All-Conference volleyball teams last week, and players in the Union area was all over both lists.
Today, we look at the SEISC North Division, which is Winfield-Mt. Union, Highland, Hillcrest Academy, Columbus and Pekin, among others.
To nobody’s surprise, the North team was dominated by the top teams. Second-place WMU had more names on the list than any area team, landing seven overall, including four on the first team.
WMU had its paws all over every position on the first team list. Junior hitter Bradie Buffington made the squad, as did junior setter Keely Malone, junior libero Keetyn Townsley, and senior defensive specialist Carlee Sloan.
Hillcrest Academy, which finished fifth in the North Division, put two players on the first team. Senior hitter Esther Hughes made the top list for the Ravens, as did freshman defensive specialist Malia Yoder.
Highland finished ahead of Hillcrest, for fourth, thanks in part to the play of senior libero Mackinze Hora. Hora represented the Huskies on the first team.
Columbus junior Victoria Howell gave the North Division first team another talented hitter, and the Wildcats their lone representative on the top team.
The Player of the Year came from the team of the year in the SEISC North. Wapello’s Lindsy Massner was chosen as the POY after leading the Arrows to an undefeated first place run.
