It was a brief stay for Van Buren County. It fell out of Thursday's basketball rankings by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union after two losses.
VBC was ranked 15th in Class 2A. Fellow Southeast Iowa Super Conference school Winfield-Mt. Union and its unblemished record moved a slot to No. 9 in Class 1A as did Notre Dame at No. 10. Class 3A West Burlington moved to No. 6 in 3A. WMU and WB will play at West Burlington Friday in the SEISC Shootout.
South Iowa Cedar League's North Mahaska dropped out, but fellow South Iowa Cedar League member Sigourney moved in and Montezuma was up a spot.
Southeast Conference leader Fort Madison, with one loss, was snubbed again in Class 4A. Nearly half of the ranked teams in 4A (seven teams) have at least four losses.
River Valley Conference schools West Branch (No. 3 in 2A) and Bellevue (No. 6 in 2A) are in the same positions for the third consecutive week, but Cascade continued its climb, up from 15 to 13 to 11 in 2A. West Liberty dropped from seventh to 11th in 3A.
