WMU volleyball heaves Highland
Wolves end Huskies’ season in regional opener

WINFIELD — The 2021 Highland volleyball season came to an end on Monday night at the hands of Winfield-Mount Union. The Wolves swept through the Class 1A Region 7 opener in three sets, beating the Huskies 25-13, 25-13, 25-20.
WMU junior Keely Malone filled the stat sheet in the win. Malone led the Wovles in four major categories, tallying seven kills, 25 assists, five blocks and three service aces.
Melina Oepping and Bradie Buffington each had six kills for WMU. Keetyn Townsley tallied 13 digs and three service aces.
Highland’s Jalynn Brown had a team-leading six kills. MyLei Smith led the Huskies with 10 assists, and Sarah Burton had 23 digs.
Highland ended its season at 11-15. WMU is now 21-10, and will travel to Wapello (26-10) on Wednesday night.
