Wolves finish 4th, VBC 5th at SEISC boys golf tournament

FORT MADISON — Winfield-Mount Union and Van Buren County each ended in the Top-5 at the 2024 Southeast Iowa Super Conference boys golf tournament in Fort Madison on Wednesday.
The Wolves finished the tournament just four strokes back of second place, taking fourth overall with a 348. Van Buren County was four strokes behind them, shooting a 352.
The Wolves used a balanced group of scores to slip into the Top-5. WMU was led by Carter Loyd and Cody Milks, each of whom shot 86 to colead the squad.
The top area player was Van Buren County’s T.J. Jirak, who shot an 81 to tie for second place overall. Hillcrest Academy’s Liam Schrock wasn’t far behind, shooting an 83. Highland’s Colten Sypherd and Van Buren County’s Aidan McEntee each finished at 84.
The top New London player in the tournament was Coen Fitzpatrick, who finished 19th place, with an 87.
Columbus’ best finish came from Kason Dopler. Dopler took 36th overall with a 95.
WACO’s top golfer was Noah Fried, who took 63rd overall, with a 108.
