Wolves host home meet

WINFIELD - All three Henry County small school teams were in Winfield on Thursday night for Winfield-Mt. Union's annual home meet. As they've done so often, Danville-New London stole the show with a double victory, winning the boys' race with 37 points and the girls' race with 27 points.
The D-NL girls were led by their big two, Addy Parrott and Lexi Brown. Parrott passed Brown on the final stretch to pick up the win in 19:13.70, and Brown came across in 19:14.32 for second. Those two runners beat the rest of the field by one minute and 18 seconds.
The next D-NL girl across was Alyssa Pfadenhauer, who crossed in fifth plcae, at 21:26.16. Carissa Mackey (22:42.84) and BreAnn Yaley (22:45.63) were 10th and 11th respectively.
Lilly Garnsey gave D-NL another top 15 finish with a 13th-place 23:23:41. Allyson Farley placed 17th in 24:16.68.
Neither W-MU or WACO had enough runners to score. The top runner for either team was Avery Maeder of W-MU, who crossed the tape in 14th place at 23:23.81.
Other Wolves in the girls' race were Whitney Vantiger (18th, 24:21.20), Isabella Mertens (26:18.15) and Kaden Fisk (33RD, 27:04.28).
WACO's top runner on the girls' side was Grace Conwell, who crossed the tape in 21st place at 25:10.10. Makenzie Shelman finished in 28:33.71 for 36th place. Jackayla Vradenburg crossed in 29:56.95 for 40th, and Caitlin Sells was 44th, in 31:37.
The D-NL boys had two top four finishers. Julian Alexander placed second in 17:20.03, and Ty Carr was fourth, in 17:50. Cody Welch gave D-NL another top-10 finish with a ninth-place 18:35.94.
Gabriel Gourley placed 12th to give D-NL anohter top-15 finish. His time was 18:49.78. Oliver Sowell (19:01.31), Seth Bailey (19:04.94) and Mason Chipman (19:05.50) finished 15th, 16th and 17th respectively.
The W-MU boys finished in fifth place with 122 points. They were led by Brody Barton, who had another strong finish at 17:41.59 for third place.
Asa Gipple cracked the top 15 with a 13th-place 18:50.15. Dane Sweezer was 25th, in 19:56.18. Talno Newton placed 42nd, in 21:04. Destiny Calvin was 54th, in 22:37. Jack Moody finished 57th, in 23:09.41, and Avinn Newton was 61st, in 24:59.06.
WACO scored 177 points in the boys' standings for 8th place. Their leading runner was Jonah Egli, who crossed the line in 19:25.91 for 25th.
Tanner Conwell (20:58.31) and Larz Smith (20:58.94 crossed in 38th and 39th place respectively. Taylor Sutton was 48th, in 21:46.06. Joe Edeker finished 52nd, in 22:15.84, and Tim Ackles was 58th, in 23:24.18.
