Wolves push past Pekin

Winfield-Mount Union 3, Pekin 1
The Wolves held a 2-0 lead after winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-17, but Pekin made things interesting with a 25-21 victory in the third.
The fourth set, however, was all WMU, as the Wolves won 25-9 to get out of Packwood with a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division victory.
Kynlee Buffington’s 14 kills led the way for WMU. Kellee Milks had 10 kills. Kaelyn Townsley and Josie Nelson finished with seven kills each. Madisen Kellogg had 34 assists, and Pacey Schlee led the team with four service aces.
For Pekin, Kayse Miller led the way with six kills. Ava Gillam had five kills, and Carlee Gambell collected three aces.
Van Buren County 3, New London 1
Van Buren County rolled in a SEISC South showdown, continuing a strong start to the 2024 season.
The Warriors beat New London in three sets, prevailing 25-11, 25-6 and 25-13.
Highland 3, Keota 1 (Monday)
Despite a stumble in the third set, Highland beat Keota in four sets, winning 25-19, 25-23, 26-28, 25-18.
Adeline Krotz had 11 kills in the game for Highland. Hailey Brun finished with eight.
Highland 3, Lone Tree 2
The Huskies have now won three of their last four contests after a five-sete win over Lone Tree, beating the Lions 19-25, 25-13, 25-11, 22-25, 15-6.
Brena Hazelett led the Huskies with 13 kills. Hailey Brun and Adisyn Prottsman each had nine. Adeline Krotz finished with eight kills, and Laney Skelton finished with 29 assists.
Columbus 3, Louisa-Muscatine 0
The Wildcats cruised past hosting Louisa-Muscatine in SEISC North play, taking sets 25-17, 25-12 and 25-10.
Jessica Del Rio led Columbus with 12 kills. Daniela Diaz handed out 19 assists, and Jocelyn Hernandez had three service aces.
Wapello 3, WACO 0
The visiting Arrows were too much for WACO in SEISC North play.
Wapello took down the Warriors in straight sets, winning 25-9, 25-9 and 25-20.
